RUSI is an independent think tank engaged in cutting edge defence and security research.
A unique institution, founded in 1831 by the Duke of Wellington, RUSI embodies nearly two centuries of forward thinking, free discussion and careful reflection on defence and security matters. 4T2 first began working for RUSI in 2002, with the creation at short notice of a portal offering impartial information about the Iraq War. The site was an immediate success, being quoted as a source for an article on the front page of the Times newspaper. The subscriber list for this portal read like a who's who of political advisors, senior military personnel and media organisations from around the world. Since then, 4T2 has managed the development of the main RUSI website through three comprehensive development phases. The most recent of these saw the integration of RUSI's online membership management system with it's back office database, reducing the manual work required for membership administration. The bespoke content management system has enabled RUSI staff to publish and manage an online library of over 2,700 research articles via topical and geographical tags. They can also enable content to be restricted to members only or free material to be distributed online or via bespoke RSS feeds. Micro-site and landing page functionality allow the editorial team to rapidly respond to current events, grouping articles, commentary pieces and event information around emerging issues in current affairs.
The Royal United Services Institute has been an acknowledged leader in the debate on defence and security, been respected around the world for its contribution over nearly two centuries to that debate, and is now leading the debate about homeland security and global terrorism
