Flipside ESC!

The IET

Can you solve the mechanical puzzles and free Cogman?

Genre: Puzzle
Released: 2010

This campaign is the follow up to Cogitate, our hugely successful and award winning physics game.

Flipside ESC! is designed to attract the attention of school children and encourage them to read a Flipside magazine from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). The IET robot (Cogman) is trapped in a building with twenty rooms. To escape from a room you must repair the door mechanism by either adding or removing a single gear. Make just one wrong move and the robot is trapped. It's a game of skill where trying to guess the correct answer is a very risky tactic. In addition to the UK and US, this campaign was also specifically seeded in Asia to help raise awareness of the IET in that region. The simple puzzle mechanic is beautifully brought to life with a mixture of 3D models, high quality graphics and an atmospheric sound track. A LEGO TECHNIC version of this game is coming soon.

Flipside Magazine

The game soared to the top of the China and Asia viral charts and took the number-six slot worldwide a little over a week ago. So thanks for all the hits. You can still play the game at flipsidegame.theiet.org - it's not going anywhere for a while, and nor is the robot if you don't give it a hand.

The IET

We, at the IET, have a fond belief in Flipside magazine and feel that it only deserves the best. And that's what we got from 4T2! The game they produced typified the Flipside brand perfectly - fun and exciting, plus you may even learn a thing or two!
